Rob Edwards and O'Neil are two of the early candidates under consideration to replace the former manager as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Pereira was dismissed on Sunday after the squad's ten-game winless beginning to the Premier League campaign.
And Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous links to the club - are part of the options to be evaluated by the Wolves leadership.
The manager is currently at another club, which would pose a possible obstacle to his appointment at Molineux.
However the former Luton manager - who played over a century of games for the club during his playing career - is considered a strong candidate for the position.
The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys support from the Wolves directors as they begin the process of hiring a new head coach.
O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise candidate, although he would be a shock appointment given he was released by the club in December last year.
The ex- West Ham player is out of work which means the club would not be required to pay any buyout fee.
