David Walliams

Prolific children's author and entertainer David Walliams has parted ways with his longtime publishing house, as confirmed by the firm.

A spokesman for the company commented: "Following a thorough review, and with the guidance of its recently appointed chief executive, HarperCollins UK has decided not to publish any new titles by David Walliams."

Media sources suggest that the move was made after an inquiry regarding reports of inappropriate behaviour towards women.

The firm declined to specify the specific rationale behind the move, adding: "We refrain from speaking about confidential company decisions."

A Highly Successful Literary Career

Walliams is one of the UK's most prolific writers for young readers, having sold in excess of 60 million copies globally in five dozen languages.

His first children's book, *The Boy in the Dress*, came out under HarperCollins in 2008.

Several of his titles, such as *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have subsequently been turned into TV movies.

He has published in excess of 40 works combined, including a festive story titled *Santa & Son*, which came out under HarperCollins this past October.

Television and Literature

He first rose to fame on the TV sketch series *Little Britain* and has additionally received National Television Awards for his duties as an arbiter on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He received an OBE several years ago in recognition of his work for the charitable sector and arts community.

The publisher's decision comes after the appointment of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's freshly installed boss in October.
